What We Do

Little Bird Music specializes in piano, music theory, and composition lessons. We help students of all ages develop a love of music and learning by focusing on technique, note reading, performance, theory, and ear training skills so they can express themselves and follow any musical path they choose. Our teachers are committed to providing not only a joyful experience but also high standards of musical excellence, each with years of teaching experience and university training in music. We also offer trumpet, trombone, flute, guitar, ukulele, and mandolin lessons.

Little Bird Music is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). Students may participate in Certificate of Merit, Composers Today, Piano Concerto Competitions, and National Guild Auditions. Contact us for more information about these programs.

During the summer, Little Bird Music presents Music and Culture Summer Camps. Summer camp students have the opportunity to learn about Western and non-Western music traditions, jazz, film music, and popular music as expressions of society and culture. Visit our programs page to learn more.

Upcoming Events

Community Arts Showcase: Friday, April 4, 2025 from 4:30-7pm at the Truckee Veterans’ Hall. The event, a benefit for our sister music scholarship non-profit MusicWings, will feature Truckee’s finest youth musical and performing arts talent. Tickets may be purchased here.

Little Bird Music Spring Recital: Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2pm and 4pm at the Truckee River Regional Park

Why Music Matters: a free community lecture series hosted by MusicWings on the first Friday of the month at 6pm at Little Bird Music’s Central Truckee location (11429 Donner Pass Rd). The next lecture dates are on May 2 and June 6, 2025.
